Nevisense®
What is Nevisense®?
Nevisense® measures electrical impedance of skin lesions and provides an output called the electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) score. Electrical impedance is a measure of a material’s overall resistance to the flow of alternating electric currents of various frequencies. As electrical impedance is different in normal versus abnormal tissue, this measure provides additional structural information at the cellular level to the physician.
To date, clinical evaluation of atypical moles to assess and guide biopsy decisions remains challenging, even for experienced dermoscopists. Early melanomas and even some invasive melanomas may have very few diagnostic morphologic features, which make it challenging to assess at the time of the patient’s visit. The Nevisense® test is non-invasive and provides us with additional cellular data from below the skin surface before we make our biopsy decision, enabling improved atypical mole management for our patients.
